Veraval is a popular seaport on the southern coast of Gujarat. Regarded as one of India's major fishing ports, it's worth visiting to see how wooden dhows of all sizes, from fishing dinghies right up to large vessels are being built manually. The place is famous for its close proximity to famous Somnath Temple, which is about 5 km from the town.
The Somnath Temple is regarded as one of the twelve sacred Shiva shrines known as Joytirlinga. A museum, which is located inside the temple complex, contains relics of the past associated to old temple that was destroyed by Afghan invaders.
The most popular tourist spots around Veraval are Somnath Temple, the Junagadh gate, from where you enter the town of Somnath and the legendry Bhalka Tirth where Lord Krishna was mistaken for a deer and wounded by an arrow while sleeping in a deer skin.
